She is such a talented musician. Too bad she is taking the wrong routes. She could have been one of the leading Jazz musicians today based on her first 4-5 albums.
Maybe that Elvis's influence

Ronenash.......I think Diana is one of the leading jazz musicians today. Her talent takes her in many directions. As an example, her contributions on the new recording of Paul McCartney - Kisses On The Bottom are very nice. I like the fact that she doesn't fit into a traditional mold.

I agree Dan, I have every recording she has ever done. I just wish she would focus more on traditional Jazz vs. The orchestral work she has done so much of.
A matter of taste I guess. Her trio albums are some of the best Jazz records I own.

My CD copy came in this afternoon. Theater room is prepped and D'Agostino amps are fired up and warming up as is the EAR Acute tubed CDP that will have the honor of spinning the shiny disc. Wilson Sashas are patiently awaiting the signal to start the show. I am anxious to hear this new album. I did not attempt to listen and preview any of the new songs on the net and saved to hear them all once the CD arrived. I know what I am doing after dinner.

This is one artist where you and I differ completely on the question of talent.

Her discs were amongst those I gave away in my last clean-out. Joe can now figure out what to do with them.

Jim.......I understand your sentiment. I have listened to so much Diana Krall over the past four or five years that I have taken a hiatus this past year, only listening to a few selected tunes that I favor. I think she was overexposed, if you will, as an artist, and not counting her current promotional photos.

When I refer to her talent, I find myself more impressed with her as a pianist and arranger than a vocalist. I don't find her voice to be very exciting or involving, nor does she elicit my emotions, as I feel little expression of emotion from her during many performances. None the less, I do find her musical ability with the Steinway keys involving. Her collaboration with other artists often seems inspirational, as well.

I can't disagree with what you said in that post. She is a talented pianist.
