Miles Davis, “Blue Note No. 1501” with trombonist J.J. Johnson, saxophonists Jackie McLean and Jimmy Heath, pianist Gi Coggins, bassists Oscar Pettiford and Percy Heath, and drummers Kenny Clarke and Art Blakey. Good album with some excellent trombone work.
Horace Silver Quintet, “Blowin’ Away The Blues”, with the great pianist and composer and trumpeter Blue Mitchell, saxophonist Junior Cook, bassist Gene Taylor, and drummer Louis Hayes. Some really good work by Blue Mitchell as well as Horace Silver. I continue to be very favorably impressed with both the SQ and the quality of these Tone Poet pressings. More to come.
