After ~3wks of continuous play and some adjusting to tune the bass and center the soundstage/instruments/singers where I want them I am very pleased. Definitely keepers. Their best attribute is that they play very well at the <70db listening levels I prefer. That is, they stay 'balanced' and do not lose anything throughout the frequency range from being played considerably louder. Again, I find their fit & finish extraordinary for such an inexpensive speaker. Can see a 300b amp in their future now that they've proven themselves with 20wpc of Class A triode power.

I am glad you like your Omens. I swapped out my Mc C26 preamp for the Mc MX117 with the 2205 amp and the Soul Supremes hit a new level of fabulous. I will need to swap in the Omens and see how that goes. I have those in my office and love them. I have good cables and the speakers get better all the time. It's been about a year now and I have been very happy with the ZU's.

Nice........ Terry DeWick went thru one for me about 25yr ago. He likes the Alps front-end in the MX117 tuner. Your MC2205 certainly has plenty of 'juice' to drive the Zu's. Am enjoying the Omen DWs enough that I do wonder about the Zu Soul Supremes.

After a couple of more months on the Zu's and some longer-term A/B listening there is no doubt that, to my ears, the Canton 9Ks are a better speaker. Zu's are off to a new home and the 9K's remain.

Glenn, can you please share in which way the Cantons are better to your ears? Thanks!

I'm a detail/fast/articulate and soundstage person. Monitors excel at that (at least to my ears) and the Canton 9K does better than any other monitors I've owned. As I told the person who has the Zu's now, it is not that they are sub-standard with these qualities, but the 9Ks are noticeable better to my ears. Plus, the Canton tweeter is the best I've heard. Non-fatiguing over hours of extended listening. The 9Ks simply suit my preferences better with zero congestion, which is something I hear just a bit of with the Zu's (but, I also hear something similar with Harbeth 30.2s, which others do not). And, surprising to me, the 9Ks play more evenly at the lower listening levels (<80db) that I prefer.

I could live with the Zu's. But, lucky for me, as I have the Canton Ref 9Ks, I do not have to.
