In variety lies the spice. Meanwhile back in the dusty village my Senn hd 560s cans are burnin' in rather nicely. Attack like a pit bull but they don't forget cohesion, detail retrieval, imagery and a nice lille olde sound stage. I need 80% to upscale 'em on my Sony portable dac/amp which is attached to my Dap by a thick rubber band. Namore is needed, and their doing a splendid job with my 320 kbps enhanced library. Except opera, which needs a great deal more than 320 anyway. I ignored Senn for decades due to the veil, but it's a home run this time. Can't recommend 'em here for walks in the park as it's open back. I'm a happy little Rad all the same.

So far, both my wife and me are enjoying it immensely.

The Hegel DAC is no slouch at all, but the Tambaqui takes everything to the next level.

I believe it will reach the ceiling limit of what can be achieved with 320kbps as more texture and refinement will be revealed as the start of the burn in grows. Going any higher up the scale with require a desk top amp and dac, which I don't really want in my bedroom. Might spring for the Audeze line next; the LCD-1 will be driven with my current set up despite mixed reviews which may change with a closed version, but my local high fi shop is too snobby to stock it. And it's closed at the mo. If I'm dishing out 400 clams to fit a modest Dap I need to hear it first. I think I'll park in the Senn 560 garage for the time being, it's nice and wide. And my entry hi fi system doesn't have a serious headphone amp, so it's really just for the bedroom.
