Default Pass Labs XP-32

I noticed on the Reno Hi-Fi site they have a XP-32 Pre Amp listed as coming this summer. Anyone have any news on this one? I’m very interested as a potential upgrade.

I am interested to know how you like it, but also what it would replace.

It’s replacing a ARC Ref 6. After getting a XP-22 for one of my systems and being blown away, I knew that I had to have the XP-32. Will post my impressions once it breaks in

I would be interested in your comparison of the Ref 6 versus the XP22. Have you tried them in the same system? If so, what do you see as the strengths and weaknesses of each?

I had the Ref 5 years ago and now have the XP22, but in completely different systems and rooms so my comparisons wouldn't be valid. Thanks!

I compared them in the same system. The XP-22 is faster and more detailed. The Ref 6 has a bit more depth but here is the biggest difference the Pass is significantly quieter, blacker backgrounds which allow you to more clearly hear low level details.
A friend of mine after hearing it said that you don’t realize how much noise is present until it’s not there. He had a Ref 6 and replaced it with a XP22.
I could have easily lived with the Xp22 but need more balance inputs in my main system, my second system only has one item that’s balanced so it’s perfect in that system

Thanks TommyTunes, that's high praise given the stellar reputation of the Ref 6!

I agree that the XP22 is extremely quiet and dynamic, at least compared to the Doshi Alaap that it replaced in my system.
