I have wood floors and find my amps sound best w/o the stands as much as I wish they would work if nothing else for astheciics. I really do not have the appetite to spend long on amp stands, especially since I would need 2.

In my case I had every intention of getting a nice pair of stands shortly after I bought my amps a couple years ago. But in the interim Ivan's handles arrived and those stands allowed me to install the handles without removing those 147lb amps from their stands. A few months later when I did a bulb replacement again all I had to do was slide the amps forward for access and the same thing again about a month ago when I installed a pair of Flux 50 connectors. They obviously don't have the greatest isolation but I'm thinking those stands will be staying put just for saving my back.

My previous amp stand was a concrete patio block 18" x 18" by 2" on old Top Toes cones into the carpet on wood floor. It worked OK.
Then I started on butcher blocks..
I noe have my amplifier up on top of:
Base is Maple butcher block 3' thick 19" by 18" up on those same Tip Toes.
On top of that is a Walnut Butcher block 3" thick 17" by 14" aligned to allow open air access for the cooling fins from below The Walnut has very small flat Ebony widgets in a trapazoid pattern wide front narrow rear between the blocks.
On top of that pair of butcher blocks: Rear is a 2" by 2" by 12: long Verawood spindle (unfinished) in front is a pair of 2" tall by 4" by 4" bowl blanks (unfinished) of Bolivian Rosewood. (I had tried a variety of different size thickness and kind of exotic woods)
The amp OEM feet are directly to the exotic wood.
This arrangement was carefully arrived at by listening.
No one should blindly just copy this. Rather find the right stuff for your own best sound. Cheers.
