Default Ikea Seagrass Ceiling Cloud for $25; no drilling required.

Speaking of ceiling clouds that were recently put up in the GIK forum, YouTube reviewer Tharbamar made a really nice set of ceiling clouds using an Ikea Knipsa Seagrass basket, an Ikea Vigda curtain rod, and 3M removable Command strips for the mounting the curtain rail; no holes in the drywall ceiling required.

Now, before you guys start chuckling about using an seagrass basket, the United States Navy and the University of Texas have done an acoustical study demonstrating that seagrass has very good sound-absorbing and acoustical damping properities. Link to this scientific study here: https://www.researchgate.net/publica...band_05-25_kHz

Tharbamar also used an inexpensive Ikea Vigda curtain track and 3M command straps so that no damage would be done to his ceiling.

Entire cost? About $25.

Tharbamar also has a cool difussor panel that made from Ikea pegboard that really works, too, and he has measurement data from REW to back it up. Cost all in? About $20

Won't be able to do measurements or anything but it'll be more like "it makes a difference and the sound improved" or " I couldn't tell any difference and have a deconstructed basket hanging from my ceiling."

That's an interesting find, not bad considering the cost. I think it actually looks pretty decent as well. Of course if I installed those it would look like total crap.

Whatever works is all that is important.

Yup! Acc. to the principles of TRIZ (Teoriya Resheniya Izobretatelskikh Zadatch) developed by Geinrich Altschuler, there is almost always more than one way to solve a problem.

Not sure if the measurements are correctly taken, too much change in the lower frequencies, can not be caused by the ceiling reflections, microphone or speakers must be in slightly different position.

Still interesting to try something like this without a huge investment
