I use excel - strict alphabetical.

With around 5000 LP's, I am loath to look at using anything else

I'm looking at DISCOGS cataloguing & exporting from there given that they have a comprehensive database already. Who is using their cataloguing & trading services?

I use Delicious Library 2 on my mac plus I save all my cd in aiff on a nas.

I try to keep my CD collection organised by name but that last a few weeks before it's a mess again.

I have used CATraxx software for years. When I convert my discs to computer files that will change my whole approach.

I edited your quote to represent what I do, but I voted on iTunes since I import and listen to ALL my music there. In other words, it gets the most use.

However, the McIntosh MS300 has ALL of my music, to include my Vinyl Cataloged on it. I'm sitting at 500GB music and growing. I don't have near the amount of music that the rest have here.

I've been using Rhapsody for some time now, and its great, but not excellent.

I haven't used any 'ANALOG method' or written down a list of my music. I guess that would be bad if something caused my iTunes and MS300 library to go and I didn't have the original discs.

I use CollectorZ Music Collector (Mac) for cataloging vinyl.

Sadly, the application is a buggy mess. CollectorZ has acknowledged every bug I've filed, including some major usability issues, but most have gone uncorrected for over a 1/2 year.

None of alternatives you have listed. I have owned the commercial program Music Collector. I like that is allows me to edit fields so that I am to track all my music and identify whether it is CD, SACD, Digital File, LP, etc and I can also note whether it is on the SooLoos, the MS-300, or sitting in the rack. Since it syncs with my iPhone/iPad i I always know what music I own and in what version(s).
