Buchardt S400II inbound

I've been really intrigued by Mads Buchardt's loudspeakers and speaker design principles, and so with that, my Editor and I reached out to him about getting a pair of the Buchardt S400II standmount loudspeakers in for review, and Mads was "all in".

So...a pair of S400IIs are arriving Friday!

Interesting. Seems more 2-way monitors are becoming "upside-down", with the mid-woofer above the tweeter. And, my new Canton Reference 9, for instance.

What are the dimensions & the MSRP?

The one that I've been interested in is the one with the Purify Woofer. It is interesting
and there must be a sound reasoning (no pun intended), but they have models with the
tweeter up or down. If I replace my desktop speakers, these would be among my first
choice.

Yes. Cartridges, as well.
Bob (Vintage Tube) was talking about Raidho speakers in a post earlier today. They were one of the best sounding speakers I heard at the Capital Audiofest, driven by Rowland electronics.

IIRC, Raidho speakers were originally designed originally by Michael Børresen, who is now doing Børresen Speakers as part of the Audio Group Denmark, which includes Ansuz, Aavik, Børresen, and Axxess.

Whelp, the Buchardt S400IIs arrived today, and I have to say, even without sufficient time to settle fully having just come off the logistics truck, I am already very impressed with them.

Specs say these are only -3dB down at 33 Hz, and I would believe that; their bass output in the lower registers for a smallish standmount is very impressive.

For only $2300 USD, delivered, these are a massive value proposition, IMHO. These perform WAY above their price point.

What I've read and viewed about the S400 MkII has me giving my penny jar a looong hard look. Could be just the ticket for my 11'x13'x7'8" bedroom "serious-listening" system.

Yeah, they're really....great. I may buy a pair, as well.

Are they the best-performing, most "incredible-sounding" speakers I've ever heard?

No, but, they are very...musical. They do many things right that create an engaging and beguiling musical experience. I could live with these as my only speakers, and be very content.

And, at the price, they are truly an excellent value proposition (where Value=Quality/Price).

I think they'd be great for your bedroom.
