miatadan, congrats on the gorgeous MC462! Enjoy in good health with many years of great listening!

I could easily live with and be happy with the MC462. I’m with Bob and have to imagine nearly 20 years of tech improvement/advancement played a role here.

That said, the MC501s were my first Mac pieces bought back in 2010 so they’re unlikely to go anywhere else in the foreseeable future. In fact, I’ve not trade/sold any of the Macs I’ve bought to date.

I worked at a stereo shop from 1987 to 2018, and become McIntosh dealer in 2006. I am sure if I had kept the MC501 mono blocks, I still be happy with them today. It says a lot about the MC501 , that I compare the MC462 to it.

You made the right choice to not trade/sold your McIntosh as it costs a lot of money to be trading in or sell. One of the disadvantage to working in a stereo shop as it was too tempting to want change.
