Default AppleTV

For those of you using a Mac, try the ATV.
I've grown to love the damn thing.
It syncs with the MacBooks wirelessly or via network cabling.
Wireless music server, laptop convenience, HD movie downloads, Iphone remote.
I'm using the optical digital output on the ATV to the optical input on the MCD500.
ComputerAudiophile.com has a great tutorial for the uninitiated.
This is good stuff and dirt cheap.

i am doing the same thing with the optical out to the MCD500, but listening via headphones (cheap ones) until the PMC TB2i's come in!! The iPhone remote is icing on the cake.

Yup! Cant agree for more. In fact, am using an external 2TB drive to keep all my entire CD collection and DVD's (thru iTunes).

Will use the optical output into the PS Audio PWD when the combo arrive! Indeed the most cost effective way to have high quality music and video playback ... with touch control via iPhone!

I am using a MacBook to DAC only because I am waiting for an ATV update. I hope Steve doesn't kill this "hobby".

Will the ATV sync with a PC and still allow me to use my iPhone as a remote? Also, excuse my ignorance, but what's the difference between the Apple TV, Airport Express and Airport Extreme? Do they simply sync to my wireless network?

Airport Express is a pocket size 802.11n router with optical digital out & USB.

Airport Extreme is a desktop router with Gigabit Ethernet outputs & USB.

ATV can sync to a PC running iTunes 8, yes even a Windows PC.

Will the ATV sync up wirelessly with my existing non-Apple router?
