Jeff,

I take it that the S1200 sounds a bit better than the Marantz. I am really happy to hear that you like the S1200. Let's get you started on power cord and the Krell 707 in a few months.

Are you using balanced input for your 2 channel? It sounds better than RCA.

Did you get a silver or black finish? I got the black and wish I had the silver. Most of my equipment is silver now.

Have fun with S1200.

Rich

sitting on plane at JFK waiting for pilots to arrive, lol. Daydreaming about the Krell. Yes, WAY better than the Marantz. Using RCA right now. Got Silver. I did in fact get my first aftermkt PCs, the Shunyata Venom3, and put them on the Oppo, Krell, and Mac 452 amp. So maybe its not just the Krell??? Lol

Great choice Jeff! Congrats!

I trust my S1200 with the rest of my system.... I have not found a better solution for a pure 2 channel performance and multichannel in one box yet.

Did someone mention the S1200 and Adele???

Yep, here is my S1200 and Adele.... (back when I had the Sasha's)

Great news! I'm looking forward to your thoughts on movie sound too!

By the way, I spoke to Bill McKiegan (from Krell) today. I didn't even know it was him, until the end of our conversation. Anyways, he is a very nice person to speak with, and he took a good chunk of time on the phone with me. He mentioned that the S1200 is definitely better at both 2 channel and movie sound than the Foundation. The Foundation is apparently a very nice piece of gear, but the S1200 is definitely better. Based upon that, I'm betting that the movie sound will be better than what you experienced with the Marantz AV8801. Sounds like you made a really great choice!

Bill is the President of Krell. The Foundation has more features than the S1200. And, it seems like they are advertising a new way to do HDMI with the Foundation, so perhaps functionality-wise with HDMI (quirks, etc), it might be better than the S1200. For sonics though, the S1200 is supposed to be superior.

Default Me too!!

OK, you got me! I found a demo S-1200 at a good enough price, so i purchased it. I will get it the middle of next week hopefully. I've previously had a Marantz AV8003 and AV7005, as well as an Arcam AV888. My favorite processor thus far though is the one I currently have - an Onkyo PR-SC5508, which has the SE upgrade from The Upgrade Company. I had also considered the Marantz AV8801 and the Krell Foundation processors.

We'll see how the S-1200 compares to my SE Onkyo.

Dave,

Congratulations on the S1200. Please post your impression of the S1200 when you have it setup.
