Can't wait to see what H'blad will do with Sony's "real" camera the excellent full frame RX-1. Heck, if Sony can sell it for $2,798.00, Hasselblad can probably put their name on the thing and sell it for $18,500.00.
Can't wait for a glamorized Sony at a such a bargain basement price.

Sure hope they didn't sell many! Just stuck the whole Oppo, case bottom and all, in their obviously premium silver case and lett-er-rip.

Doesn't Mcintosh do the same with their Clearaudio turntables, MPC 1500 power conditioners and previously the Denon 2910 DVD player?

^Well Lyndorf's RoomPerfect is a good effect of licensing technology. see MEN220
-MT10 is a specialized integrated design, the cartridge and the arm are designed to work with positive synergistic effect. However it was outsourced to ClearAudio for manufacture. I am sure some one can comment about the rest, but in a cost conscious consumer electronic world business have to take short cuts in order to meet consumer demand or edge out other businesses. However, in this thread's case, the manufacture really made the least amount of effort in hopes that their "branding" will dupe a few consumers. I am sure the massess aren't happy with this one. |

Either way, as I mentioned in the Lunar thread, Viktor Hasselbald is spinning in his grave.

It is really a shame when companies prostitute their brands for a quick buck. Just look at the shells that Polaroid and Kodak have become. Not a good strategy.
Sure, in photo electronics these days companies have to use piece parts from other manufacturers due to development costs. Nikon uses Sony sensors in some models, for example. But their metering, focus system, and image processing are all uniquely theirs. Look at what Hasselblad is doing. Then look at what RED has done since 2007. Pretty amazing. I know they are a bit apples and oranges, but, hey, a 6k 100 fps camera with 16 stops of dynamic range is impressive. What will RED do next year? Hasselblad? Tom
