Default Trail cam selection

I'm looking for a trail cam to capture wild life with great detail (photo quality images) Any suggestions would be helpful. As well as things I need to look for when selecting a trail cam..
Thank Ed

I use a mix of Brownell trail cams and a Reolink wifi battery-powered security camera. Pretty much any upper tier camera will take good pictures these days. Some thoughts:

If you're going to place it within wifi range of your house, a security camera works very well. I have the Reolink battery camera about 150 feet from my house and it works well there. I have to change the battery (rechargeable) every 2-4 weeks depending on activity. A spare battery comes in handy.

For further distances, consider whether you want cellular (requires a plan, but very convenient) or SD cards, which need to be collected and checked. If you use an SD card, have a spare so you can swap the card out.

If you're in a wet/rainy/snowy area, a hood helps keep the rain or snow from fogging or blocking the camera

Most cameras come with a strap and mount to attach to a tree, but unless you want them elevated, I've found it's convenient to mount on a post so you can change location and direction of the camera as needed.

Most trail cams are battery powered, but there are solar options as well if you're going to be placing it where it will get enough light.

I've found www.trailcampro.com very helpful, they have good reviews.

Don't expect any trail cam to last forever. I'm in a very wet/rainy/snowy are (Cascade foothills) so I may not be the norm, but most I've tried last a couple of years before something fails.

Tony Thanks for the info. Now I just have to decide which ones to get.
