Thanks, all. I've designated the period of 10/11 to 10/18 as "birthday week." Today, I ordered in for Indian food, and have a small apple crumb cheesecake bought on Thursday (from Junior's in Brooklyn, about a 10-minute walk away). Also on Thursday I went to Junior's for lunch, and got a free cheesecake slice. Tomorrow I may order a pizza for delivery; football and pizza are a good combo.
Also renewed my AA subscription this AM! Now, the dangerous part. For some time now I'd been kicking around the idea of replacing my speakers (Mirage M-3si), not because I don't like them, but because they're 30.5 years old and I still have a bit of concern they might die after I retire and can't afford anything comparable. Accordingly, I have begun researching again on a casual basis and began to hone in on Martin-Logan's Motion XT F200 this AM; this despite not having decided to make an actual change. I am slow and deliberate about stuff like this, so I'll have to see where it takes me. Another consideration is that the Mirages can't strut their stuff fully because of my room's limitations; I wonder if their bipolar design is a factor. They still sound good, though. The F200s may do better, perhaps. I have some time to put in on this because I've been out on leave from work since 8/28, when I had surgery on my right arm. I do have other things to do though, and shouldn't spend all my time on speaker research.

That's especially important considering the 91.5-lb MC501s.
