Seriously considering the X250.8. A simple question though: who makes racks / shelves deep enough for this amp?

I now own the Pass Labs 260.8s. They are absolutely amazing. Tremendous sound strange and imaging. i use Quadraspire racks that seem to fit Pass amps well.

Thanks JoeN. Your picture does not work for me though. I love the quadraspire aesthetic, and the large amount of customizing that can be done.
The X250.8 is 22.5 inches deep, while the Quadraspire SVT has 18.5” deep shelves, as does my Solid Tech Radius shelving. If your amps match the 22.5”, I’ll try my shelves first.

I believe Ivan is a Quad dealer. So, if you like their design I would consult with him. He would also be able to direct you towards other racks you might find more to your liking.

So custom, thanks. I saw the custom option.
The Mapleshade site has a 2 shelf unit with deep shelves, but I would need them to cut off the rods to fit my requirements. So custom, and expensive, there as well. I appreciate your comments Joe.

Daveneumann: did you notice an improvement in the bass (more authority/weight) when you went from the X250.8 to your X260.8's? I have the X250.8, and the the bottom end seems a little 'polite' to me. Not lean, just not very assertive. Maybe it's just that my last long-term amp was a Krell FPB 400cx, and those golden era Krells kind of set the bar. I'm about to pull the rigger on an upgrade to the X260.8's. (Wilson Sophia 2's, ARC Ref 5se)

I did not notice a big difference in bass depth or impact. But in my system, the 250.8 did pretty good in that area already. Bottom line, it was a worthwhile upgrade for me.

Fwiw, I heard the 250.8's recently driving a pair of Kef Blade 2's and was very impressed. Great definition top to bottom, detailed but silky sweet and pinpoint imaging, so if the 260.8's improve on that that must be really good. I previously owned a 250.5 and as much as I liked the mids and treble I was less than fully satisfied with the bass control and definition, so this appears to have been resolved with the .8 models. |
