Oh yes. Nothing better on one of our rare summer days than barbecuing, drinking beer and running live steam

Do I have train set? Yes. Do I consider myself a train set Aficionado? No. I have a cousin who is much more into train sets than I.

I have a secret desire to have a train set room. I have collected a few Marklin pieces in my younger years of which are all in storage. Another expensive hobby

Not so much a secret anymore, LOL. I had a fairly large train board my dad and I put together after getting the trains, cars, and buildings one Christmas. The buildings were in kit/model form and required assembly and painting. It took a while to do and was set up in the basement. I played with it for years and remember it fondly.

Doug, great post. Christmas memories revolve around trains and presents, inside, and "hoppin' cars" and ice skating, outside. My father had an O gauge set of Lionel trains from the 30s or 40s.
Every year, we'd put out our 4x8 dark green plywood table, lay down tracks, assemble the houses etc., and start the engine rolling. I dearly miss that feeling. I dream of playing with trains again, as soon as I can get around to it. Thanks, ron |

I loved the Hornby narrow gauge model railways. If I have a house designed in the future, i'd love to have a railway running around part of the house with perspex windows in the walls

Back in the 1950s I had a rather large set of American Flyer trains. Spent many a day enjoying them. They have been packed away and have not seen the light of day for at least 50+ years. Might be fun taking them out this winter
