Default Sonos Music Index Reminder

This is a reminder for those of you using a SonoS unit in your system. Don't forget to update your Music Index as you add music to your library. I was going to play a couple of new CD's that I had added to my MS300 thru my whole house system this afternoon. When I could not find them in my SonoS library I remembered that I had not updated the Music Index recently. After the update all is well again.

Dan
If you are using the wireless remote that came with the SonoS or either a iPhone or iPod Touch to control the system.
Select Setting at the bottom of the Music Menu
Select Music Library Management
Select Update Music Index Now
It will take some time if you have a lot of music.

No problem. Where do you keep the music that is accessed by SonoS? I just have it go to my MS-300, no PC's.

Jim.......Same here. The Sonos accesses the MS750 hard drive. I don't store any music on my office computer, although I do have a 1TB external hard drive connected to this computer that backs up my MS750. I don't connect the USB cable until I'm ready to perform a backup. That way there is no way the music files can become corrupted. I don't want to have to reload all those CD's one at a time ever again. Phew!!!

Dan when you replace your MS750 with the next version someone is going to get a great music collection . I keep all my music in my itunes library on my macbook pro and it gets backed up everyday automatically using time machine. Mcintosh, Sonos and Apple perfect together. I love creating random playlists of my music library using the genious function in itunes which then plays through the sonos. If you don't have itunes on your computer do yourself a favor and download it for free, the genious function is fabulous.

I did not like the way the SonoS handled the same music on the my MS300 and the laptop I sync with my iPods. They showed up twice and I was not sure if I was selecting the highest quality version to play. So I removed the laptop from the SonoS.

Creating a Pandora station works similar to the Genius in iTunes. Selects similar music to the artist you choose. Great way to find new music from people you may not have heard before, and you do not have to buy the disc until you have tried out the artist.
