Yes, you can use the Speaker Link output for an AES-EBU output.

I built a Speakerlink to AES balanced digital cable to use with my Control 10. It works great with my DAC. I've been using this cable for 5 months with no problems.

Here is the pinout info you need of the Speakerlink output:

Pin 2&5 ground
Pin 7 AES+
Pin 8 AES-

You should be able to build a Speakerlink to AES with this info.
Victor, Thanks! We will all benefit from your pioneering and generosity. Do you know if on the Twinstore one can choose to use the second drive as additional space?

Glad to help.

Unfortunately the second drive on the Twinstore is only used for a backup.

One thing to consider with your Sooloos setup (Control 15 & Twinstore), if you want all of your music automatically backed up on the Twinstore you will need to turn off the Control 15 storage. I would recommend starting off this way and if you need more storage in the future you can always turn the 500 gig Control 15 storage back on. The 2tb on the Twinstore may be all you ever need, I have 2200 albums on my Sooloos with over 300 of them being high res and I'm only at 920 gig.

Thanks again Victor! That eliminates the justification/need for the C15 (as opposed to simply the C10). Too bad the C10 is no longer offered. I could have saved a couple grand with this info. I wonder if there's a sonic difference between the C15 storage and the network attached storage? On my Mac Pro the difference was pronounced.

That is an interesting question I did not even consider. I have compared the Control 10&15 in my system but they were both playing from my Twinstore, they both sounded about the same to me.

When you get your Sooloos equipment you can give it a try and see if you hear any difference. To do this load a CD to the Control 15 with the Twinstore off then load the same CD to the Twinstore by turning off the Control 15's internal storage. Make sure and change the name on one so you can tell them apart (maybe add a "15" to the title of the one on the Control 15). I doubt you would hear any difference but it's worth checking out.

The C15 contains Meridian digital processing if I remember correctly.

Howie you are correct. I guess that makes me feel a little better.

Now you did see that Victor said the C10 and C15 basically sounded the same. I'm just getting anxious to get it in and running. I'm terrible at the whole 'waiting' thing!

This is true and I've heard many people say the sound is improved with Meridian speakers and the Control 15. Unfortunately I did not hear the improved sound in my system. This could be because the DAC I'm using ( MDA1000) reclocks the incoming signal so it doesn't take advantage of the improved Control 15 signal processing. The Control 15 I heard was the reps prototype Control 15, it's also possible this Control 15 didn't have the new audio boards in it.

Either way, if I didn't already have my Control 10 I would have gone with the new Control 15.

I'm planning on connecting my MS600 via both its coaxial digital output and its SpeakerLink output (via an RJ45 to AES/EBU adapter) to my MDA1000 and also connecting the MS600 via its balanced analog outputs to my C1000C/T. I am looking forward to seeing what the differences, if any, may be.

Regarding storage, it is my understanding that I will be able to set my Control 15 as the "core" component of my Sooloos devices and that I can set it to utilize both its internal storage as well as that of the MC200 that will be on the same network. Does that sound correct, Victor?

Initially, I plan on using Control Mac to make manual backups to a 1 TB RAID-1 NAS. I hope that's not too cumbersome.
