I have an iPad 1, 32GB, 3G encased in an Otter Box. I carry it with me everyday including when I'm out on the Spyder. I didn't really see any advantages to getting the iPad 2 so I stuck with my 1. Unless there are some major improvements with the 3 I'll just keep using this one because so far it does everything I need it to. You could get a good deal on a used iPad 1 if for no other reason to try it out and see if it does everything you need it to do.

Sent from my iPad using A.Aficionado

My problem is I don't know much about them except they are the latest rage, and seem to be the tablet to beat.

I was on the Apple Store site earlier. There are three WiFi iPads, the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions, plus three WiFi + 3G iPads in the same memory configurations. I know the WiFi version will suit my purpose at home, and most likely anywhere I carry it that has a WiFi hotspot, but I wonder if the 3G version might be worth the upgrade price.

Another thing, I always believe the more memory the better, but will I actually be using 64GB, or is the basic 16GB version sufficient. Why would I need more memory, and what would I use it for? Also, will FireFox run on OS5?

About accessories, do I need one of those iPad Smart Covers? I know they protect the screen when not in use, but I am curious if they are truly useful in other ways as shown. What about a camera connection kit, and the iPad 2 Dock?

Since I do not own an iPad 1 or 2, is there an advantage to holding out for the iPad 3? I really don't know what else could be offered that I would use that's not available with the iPad 2. Any and all comments will be welcomed.
I wouldn't worry about the WiFi vs Internet connection versions. If need be, you can get a small ISP module that fits in your pocket and works anywhere. I think it runs the same per month as if you had Internet enabled iPad.

Dale.......That is a good suggestion. I hadn't even considered buying a used iPad.

Besides surfing the net or controlling audio equipment, what are some other functions you are using the iPad for?

check out the zagg carbon fiber looking case with bluetooth keyboard - I love it - the best of both worlds and also holds the ipad in a great position to place it on your lap.

Interesting. How is it powered and how does it connect to the iPad to provide IP/TCP connectivity?

Dan,

IPad 1 do not have a camera. IPad 2 does. This is very convenient - taking and sending quick pictures from your Ipad 2 is a 2 minute job.

You name it...

You can use it for lots of different things:
Room equalization measurements with a $50 microphone
Reading magazines
Surfin' AA!
Banking and stock portfolio management
Using Skype
Photo editing
Movie editing
Garage Band (sound/music editing)

I could go on and on, but there are thousands of applicatons....

I really like it for watching streaming Netflix before retiring for the night...
