Considering an iPad......Need help

I did forget to mention that the guy at apple said the battery is hard-wired in. I guess most here could handle the task at hand.
With all that said, I've got my $700.00 of enjoyment out of my iPad already, even if it blew up today. Yep, we use & enjoy ours that much.

While the batteries in iPods, iPod Touches, iPhones and iPads are not user-replaceable; they are replaceable. There's an excellent Apple tech and repair/refurbishment business pretty close to where I live called Tech Restore that does excellent work, and generally very rapid turnaround for repairs.

Best Buy has reduced their prices on the iPad2's by $50. I guess they are trying to reduce their inventory ahead of next weeks announcement of the 3.

I think you are correct, Jim. I also saw other reports that track "important" and "large" shipments from China - Foxconn - so people are connecting the dots.

Jim.......Thank you. Best Buy emails me reqularly, so I am aware of the $50.00 discount. I think the discounts will be even steeper before all is said and done. I am interested in seeing the iPad 3, too.

It's official, we'll get to see the iPad 3 next Wednesday the 7th. But I wouldn't bet on much deeper discounts. Apple hardware is rarely discounted and when it is, it isn't by much...at least, from what I've seen.

Apple has finally confirmed the details of its next iPad launch event. It will take place on Wednesday, March 7th at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco.

I agree...Apple products that have just been superceded are rarely discounted...last year, when no one could find an iPad2 in stock, iPad1s were in stock at Target and Best Buy at their original MSRPs...you might get an iPad2 at a bit of a price break, but I wouldn't pin your hopes on any appreciable price drops. Even refurbed Macs, MacBooks, etc., are only $300-$500 below new MSRP. There's incredible brand equity there....it's like Leica lenses.
