Shunyata, why just copper, no silver?
I guess this is a question for Caelin, Shunyata has quite an array of cables in each cable type and they are all copper from what I can gather (looking at the website). This seems to keep the cables at a reasonable price point, relatively speaking even the Anacondas and perhaps it's the use of copper that keeps the cables from the stratospheric pricing as seen in silver cables from other manufacturers.
I have wondered for a while why has Shunyata not used silver for a conductor? Is there something about silver, some characteristic that makes it undesirable in some way in comparison to copper based on the research and technologies used to make Shunyata cables? Thanks, Rod |

Some of our earlier cables (ten years ago) used silver conductors. We also used to produce a silver plated and a rhodium plated line of connectors. Once we perfected our Alpha Cryo process, we prefer the sound of CDA-101 copper conductors. The copper we use (after cryo treatment) is just as expensive as silver so cost is not the issue. We just prefer the balanced sound of our copper conductors to silver.

Did you ever consider using PCOCC copper, or single-crystal copper as some manufactures call it? Thanks, Sander. |

Yes, we have tested with continuous cast copper. We consider our Cohergenic copper to be superior but we will be using OHNO continuous cast copper conductors in a new line of cables that we will ne introducing in about a month.
These will be inexpensive VENOM class products which will include RCA and XLR interconnects and a speaker cable that uses our VTX geometry and STIS interchangeable speaker terminal system.

Any sign yet of an Alpha serie with VTX geometry? Sander. |

We are on schedule to release our next level up from the Alpha Series power cords. These will be called Sigma Series and there will be a Digital, Analog and High Current version just like the Alpha Series. They will feature VTX conductors as many have guessed. We expect these cables to establish a new reference standard for quality of construction, fit, finish and performance. Watch for an announcement sometime in August.
We will also be releasing a UK terminated Alpha and Sigma Series line of cables in September that will feature our new CopperCONN UK AC plug. CopperCONN connectors are made with pure copper contacts (not brass or bronze) and will accept 5 gauge conductors.

I am going to hold off on my Wireworld purchase until you release your new power cables. Looking forward to this new release!
