Greetings colleagues from the upper left coast,
I plan on listening to the music from Quo Vadis by Miklos Rozsa. It is the Prague Orchestra conducted by Nic Raine. While I'm not thrilled with the recording, I am thrilled by the music. It's too bad that film music has degererated to its current state. I can remember going to the movies not only to see the film but also to hear some great music. I'll leave that subject for another time.

Cheers Petronius - upper left coast of the US, as in the Pacific Northwest?

Finally listening to this jewel:

Rachel Podger - Guardian Angel
Works by Biber, Bach, Matteis, Tartini, Pisendel
Qobuz 24/192

Kal was lucky to be there when they recorded this:

The 'Passacaglia', from the 'Rosenkranzsonaten' is one of the best pieces ever written for solo violin in music history.

Pēteris Vasks - Works for Piano Trio
Trio Palladio
Qobuz 24/88.2

Following a suggestion from Buck.
It's a good one!

From 'Guardian Angel' (Biber's composition in the album above) to 'Lonely Angel' (rearranged for this album in 2019)...

Following a recommendation from Kal:

Respighi - Ballad of the Gnomes - Three Botticelli Pictures - Suite in G major for Strings and Organ - Adagio with Variations for Cello and Orchestra
Philharmonia Orchestra, Geoffrey Simon
via Qobuz

Lovely pieces!
Sound is not top, might be better on the multichannel SACD, but we must not forget this is a 30 year old recording.
