JBL talks about a 2 way speaker being optimal and having less crossover points. A minimalist approach. There is some validity to that, simple is most always better. That however is not easy to accomplish and everything a good speaker must have will be ultimately sacrificed here and there....
I've never hear the JBL Everest, I have no doubt it is a coherent, well balanced speaker. Not sure of what the price is either but I am sure it is up there. For those interested in a high efficiency, minimalist approach/single driver augmented by a ribbon tweeter, the Zu Audio is an interesting choice and rather affordable. . Looking at the Everest on-axis response graph, it is very smooth. I have a feeling the Zu Audio speakers would not be that far off, there is only 1 crossover point at 10Khz for the sparkle up top from the ribbon. Essence |

Hi
I have listening to the JBL K2 S9900 and I am still impressed with the sound it performed even if it dosen't go to 20Hz but what a bass, I mean real bass. I don't now how JBL do it and can perform such a good bass but it has do with the 60 years experiance. I wounder how the Everest sounds. As I understand it and mostely like is that one can by-pass the crossover and run an external crossover and run in bi-amp mode. Sorry, but I had the possibility to listening side by side with the K2 S9900 and the Revel Ultima Salon 2 and Revel hasen't any chance here. JBL is a great speakers that outperform most of the speakers out there. Thanks |

Hi
What about the opposite, above 20k, why is this so important that a speaker goes to 50k when I don't hear beyond 20k? Any idea!! Thanks |

I heard the K2S9900 at a show and was extremely impressed : they were much better than the Magico 5 to my ears. They were driven by Esoteric amps / preamp / cd. Somehow they were lacking some charm and i' m sure I could have fall in love with them associated with Mc Intosh electronics.
To speak shortly they just had everything. Only fault for me is their name ! who invented that ? They could have called them Mont Blanc or Anapurna : this would have been nice besides the Everest. I wish I could hear the Everest one day. Cheers Jerome
