Finally finished some of the built ins to my room, did the REQ evaluation, and chose some fabrics. Order was placed earlier this week. Looking forward to the listening Thanks Alex for the help with the setup. (initially I am placing 2 each tri-traps in the front corners, a monster bass trap along the bottom of the front wall, and a ceiling mounted 242 at the first reflection. I wanted to try these out. Adding side wall panels will involve stands, and finding places for them when I want to get into/out of the room, so I want to see how things go without them first.

Hello All,
I recently made a couple of temporary absorbers for the first reflection points in my room, to see the effects. I had a case of 1 inch OC703 rigid fiberglas in the shed waiting for this day. I wrapped 24"X48"X2" (two, one inch plys together) with some left over GoM fabric. It definately reduced the reflections, but I thought I could improve more, so I added 2 more sheets of fiberglas for a 4 inch panel placed on each side. To me, it seemed way more controlled, but then I started wondering if it was too thick for those side walls...then I was thinking of making them go back to two inches thick but have to panels on each side wall...I haven't tried that yet, but do you think that it would be a better way to go? Thanks, Pete |
