Default Which is the better cable spec wise?

Im trying to see which is a better cable spec wise ? The tributaries sp4 OFHC/Silver plated OFHC AWG 14 or the Chord Carnival Silverscreen which is oxygen free copper.? Need some opinions. They both sound great & they have their advantages.

Specs mean nothing when it comes to cables...

Even the manufacturers that are supposed to be "engineers" which tout "specs" are typically full of hot air.

Just go with what sounds best to you - if it happens to be the more economical route, consider that a win.

However, from a general personal-preference standpoint: I am rarely a fan of silver in speaker wire just because I have yet to hear one that doesn't make the speaker overly bright.

The only reliable spec you can use to distinguish cables is length.

+1 on "go with what sounds best to you"

On silver cables, my experience has been that silver plated OFC does tend to sound harsh and/or bright. But solid core pure silver with teflon insulation sounds better (to me) than most copper or mixed element cables.

My silver coated copper cables (WireWorld Silver Eclipse 6) sound magnificent and certainly not harsh. I think this is very system dependent - i.e. sometimes yes and sometimes no.

Yes... I agree. I've certainly not heard every silver coated copper cable out there and of the ones I have, only on a very limited number of systems. I'm sure yours sound wonderful with your system.

Interesting, why do you think silver wire makes a speaker sound overly bright?

I have no idea, but it is rare to find a silver speaker wire that doesn't make me hear that.

Some good reading here. I've tried their balanced ICs and they sound great. Very transparent, no zing, no brightness... just music.

p.s. I am in no way affiliated with WZA, beyond being a satisfied customer.
