28K for the STUTE,..yes quite expensive. I believe the Esoteric G1 is that or possibly more now. The 1.9M JPY price for the G1 is the Japan price, in US it's much higher. Would love to see someone put the STUTE on a test bench. Grandaddy of them all, the BVA Sforzato OCXO at 33K (possibly higher now) blows them all away with lowest effective jitter and phase noise on the test bench. Cybershaft OP21A, one-fifth the price and specs on test that meet and exceed even the mighty Sforzato from what I've seen in test results. |

Thanks , but what I am looking for are a reviews written by Japanese in Japanese. Wanna know how the Japanese think about it.
Anyway, is the phase noise the only thing that matters ? Long time ago when I was a teenage I remembered choosing Yamaha CX1000 over Pioneer C-91 because Yamaha had 0.001% lower THD. For master clock, it’s like we are chasing for the phase noise number, but how about the musical aspect. For me. It’s hard to spend 700,000¥ for clock based on phase noise without audition it. If I can Find Cybershaft demo I am more than happy to try it. If cannot find, Esoteric clock is a safer bet as I felt G02X has performed well enough In my system at a reasonable price. Just my two cents. By the way this guy wrote a fun review of Cybershaft Rb and many clock cables. He used 02 combo and later K1. http://rubi2947.blog.jp/archives/cat_281736.html |

That stat does sound impressive, yes I know a bit of marketing but still it puts in
perspective, accuracy of 1 second every 1000 years. The system in the Abendrot website looks to die by having a full dCS stack *plus* the Stute master clock, wow.

The real target is lowest effective jitter in the circuit. The lower the jitter the more accurate the playback. For good source material this has good side effects in terms of sounding more musical, better imaging, soundstaging, because the playback of the source is able to extract, decode and convey what is there more accurately, etc...
See the sites I mentioned as well as others as to what is measured to calculate jitter specs... The big ticket items are Phase noise at 1, 10 and 100 Hz Allen Deviation and Variance Short term stability of the clock The fact a clock only loses 1 second every 1000 years is less important than its short term accuracy and stability. I wish I didn't hear the differences a clock made in that video.
Without the clock, the sound is not as natural or refined and in the case of the Abendrot, tonally fleshed out.

Pity the already expensive and good sounding G1 seemed to be beaten. let alone the
K1X on its own VCXO. |

Okay Captain (Toga), I listened to all he said. He does not really discuss the technical differences between the clocks in the G1 and K1X, but comparing the sound differences of CD>DSD with the G1, the G1 sound is more detailed and natural than with K1X, but the difference is not huge. With UPC>SACD, the highs with G1 seemed to climb much higher and the soundstage of the voices was twice as wide as in the K1X. All in all, the improvement was great with SACD.
I’ve just read this thread and I think you are asking about the Stute versus Esoteric more than the differences between G1 and K1X, which I focused on above. Give me a little time, and I’ll update this information to include the Stute. Being an Esoteric thread, I assumed you only cared about the Esoteric clocks ha ha ha. With the Stute clock, the sound is very different. Of course, the sound of the mids and highs is better, but especially, the bass is improved (If I understood correctly ha ha ha). Hope this helps ron Last edited by bachrocks; 11-22-2020 at 03:01 PM. |

Thanks a lot Ron, Bachrocks.
Usually I play CD as straight PCM, no UPC of any kind. Even G02x, the smallest clock in Esoteric line, it made huge improvement., just can’t imagine anything better. Toga |
