I own the N-01. I can't rate it highly enough. Absolutely flawless in every way. I pay absolutely no attention to what any reviewer writes about anything.

20 grand for a Network Audio Player is very expensive compared to the Aurender N10 for 8 thousand. Or the Lumin U1 for 6. Both the Aurender and Lumin are designed to be used with upscale Dacs. I know all about the Big Rep Esoteric has so for 20 thousand it better blow away the competition

Regardless of the 'rag' one has to be able to 'read between the lines'. So much of the dribbling nonsense written in the various reviews is there to take up space.

The other thing that really cracks me up is when a reviewer says anything negative about a piece of gear that one of us might happen to own.......... man-o-man what babies we then become !!

Jason Victor Serinus always has an agenda, when he published his review of Pass amps which he has had for over a year as “his” amps he compared them to the D’ Agostino’s and preferred the D’Agostino’s. Suddenly now he has D’Agostino’s. As a reviewer that has no analog playback because he doesn’t want to deal with it associated issues it strikes me as very odd.
I’ve been using a N-05 for accessing my NAS for almost two years and yes I have an issue of it losing connectivity to my ipad but generally it occurs only during the first 20 minutes and only once. I simply turn it off and back on and it’s resolved not unplugging is needed.
He also mentions that he has no NAS system, the N-01 and N-05 are designed to mate with you home network. I’ve read plenty of his reviews and his agenda always becomes apparent.

What riles me about reviewers is when they write in glowing terms about a piece of gear that is rubbish. Fair criticism is fair, however sugar coating something which is rubbish simply because the manufacturer happens to advertise in your rag is something else.

I agree with Dan. JVS seem to have a negative bias against some products before the review even begins. I stopped paying attention to his reviews long ago.
