Default Mac Mini - El Capitan Upgrade

I am currently running a Mac Mini with Audirvana Plus software to my Esoteric K-01X. Apple is offering a free upgrade to El Capitan. If I do this upgrade, will my Esoteric K-01X driver still work and will my Audirvana Plus software still work?

I never even did Apple's previous Yosemite upgrade on my Mac Mini for fear that it wouldn't work. If anyone has experience with this, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken

Ken,
No issues with Audirvana Plus after the upgrade here. My setup consists of Mac Mini, Uptone Audio JS-2 LPS with MMK, USB Regen and McIntosh MCD1100. I'm not familiar with Esoteric driver requirements but the El Capitan upgrade was completely transparent for my setup. Hope this helps.

Thanks Terry! Glad to hear this upgrade was transparent for Audirvana Plus. Now all I need to verify is that the Esoteric K-01X driver still functions property with El Capitan and then I can proceed with the upgrade.

All the best,
Ken

Do not change to El Capitan yet. Does not work from my MacBook Pro Retina 2012 laptop with USB 3.0 but does work with my iMac Desktop 2011 with USB 2.0. I strongly suggest you wait and do not change from Yosemite. I understand El Capitan is a big problem with a lot of DACS and I am already speaking with Scott at Esoteric about my issue. Hopefully will be resolved in 2016. I have the Esoteric K-03x with the laptop connected by USB and using Audirvana Plus 2.

Thanks James,

I have a Mac Mini OSX Server which came out in late 2012. I never even did the Yosemite upgrade for fear the K-01X driver wouldn't work. So does Yosemite work properly? Now that El Capitan is out, I don't know if it's possible to move just to Yosemite.

Best,
Ken

I recall that Yosemite worked, I think. Check Esoteric.jp web site to see what driver is available. Out of town now so sorry for not being more specific.

The Macbook Pro 2012 Retina is at the Apple store for a repair of the main board (we had a power hiccup and whoops!). When I receive back I will check to see if works or not. I have a new Audioquest Jitterbug that from what I understand alters the USB from USB 3.0 to USB 2.0. When I get the laptop back I will test to see if that makes a difference. More to come. For now please do not change your OS X from what works with the K-01x.

Well...audirvana just came out with a release that won't work on Mavericks. And I can't upgrade from Mavericks because the k03 doesn't have an updated driver. Looks like I need to find a new software package. Roon would require a new iPad, to boot. Can't win here.

Sorry...I am wrong! Audirvana did have an update that failed for me, but it was for some other reason. It still supports Mavericks.
