Its the last 1% we spend the most to achieve. The law of diminishing returns applies at this level. Is the K1 light years ahead of the K-01X, I doubt it. Is it better...probably yes. The K-01X brought my sound to a level never achieved in my room. Where do we go from here to hear a profound difference? Full stack Grandioso? DCS stack? With these players, its probably not better just different IMO.
Dave,
I was have the luck to try in an A/B comparison, same ULTRA HIGH END system, same cd's and sacd's in both, a K-03X and a Grandioso Full Stack in my last vacations in Paris last year.
With a red book cd's i really was need to make an effort to listen the differences between this two beasts, with sacd the differences are more noticeables but in any case is a day and night difference.
This demo help me A LOT to make mi decision and finally i buy 3 months ago a brand new K-03X, in my oppinion one of the most clever way to spend your money. With this player you can have almost the 95% of the Grandioso Full Stack performance for a fraction of the money

Each one is a noticeable step up from the previous model. I can even rather easily discern the difference from my G01 clock to the new Grandioso G1 Master Clock.

The human ear is mind boggling, as even my 60 year old ears can appreciate these fantastic players.
Ivan,
I would love to make that trip again someday, but I have a 7 month and a 3 year old that keep me pretty close to home for now. I would really enjoy listening to all the greatness in both of your homes!! Ill see if I can make the Cape Party I believe is in Oct or Nov. I've never heard them all side by side and thank you for the invite.

Carlos - Thank you!

PassFreak,
Great name btw. Great choice, I know you won't be disappointed. It is nice when you can do A/B comparisons on the same system. IMO, to get everything a full Grandioso Stack has to offer requires attention to every piece of the audio puzzle. Room, power, amps, pre, and cables all need to be able to extract every last detail these players bring out. Pretty amazing when you hear it!

Dave
