WW Silver Eclipse or Acoustic Zen ICs--Need Advice.
Hello, I need a little advice. I am considering changing all my cables to the WireWorld loom.
I now have a majority of WW cables--Silver Eclipse speaker cable, Platinum Starlight USB, and Silver Electra power cables--but still have Acoustic Zen Silver Reference and Matrix II interconnects. Considering buying WW Silver Eclipse or Platium Eclipse ICs. Would appreciate advice from other audiophiles with experience with these ICs. Roger Last edited by Steady339; 05-03-2013 at 06:35 PM. |

In my own system, and other system's I have visited that have had the chance to try both, I have actually favored the WW USB and IC's. The AZ speaker cables (the version that is 100% copper) worked extremely well.

Randy.......Your comment is exactly why it is so difficult to recommend interconnects, speaker cables, and power cords. They are so system dependent and that doesn't even touch on our differences in hearing. If possible, it is always best to try before you buy. Having said that, I am absolutely thrilled with the performance of my Wireworld Silver Eclipse IC's and speaker cables, and my Silver Electra power cords. I have no reason to look further.

I agree that analog cable choices are subjective. When it comes it digital though, like USB or HDMI, the choices are much easier.

Thanks all, judging by your replies and reading your signatures it is clear that you are all satisfied users firmly in the WireWorld camp. The WW cables I own have also made me a fan, as each WW cable in my system has made a significant, audible improvement.
Here is my thinking--because of the reduced brightness due to the new WW Silver Eclipse speaker cables in my system (approximately 50 hours of burn in time) I was thinking to make an IC change. That is, to insert either WW Silver or Platinum Eclipse ICs or a second AZ Silver Reference IC (in place of the slower sounding, much less detailed AZ Matrix II) to maximize detail in my system. I have really enjoyed the detail retrieval of the AZ Silver Reference. Just not sure what would be the best way to go in the long term for me. Roger, which way do you have your Acoustic Zens hooked up ? The Matrix from source to pre, and Silver Ref from pre to power or the other way round ?
For what it is worth, in my system I got maximum benefits in using the better interconnect from source to pre. YMMV of course. I've not tried Wireworld interconnects, but the Silver Ref is an excellent cable that has fended off a number of competitors in my system. |

Watchdog, Good idea--right now AZ Silver Reference is between pre and power amps and Matrix II between DAC and pre. Will switch positions of ICs to see if I get more detail/better sound in this configuration.
YES!, the switch does make a difference, sounding quicker and a little more detailed in the new configuration! Thanks for the suggestion Watchdog. Roger Last edited by Steady339; 05-05-2013 at 02:15 AM. |

Roger,
Glad to be of help. Also, watch how tight you clamp down on those locking connectors. In my experience, if you try gorilla tight, the sound is dead and lifeless. I just turn them enough until I encounter some resistance, and then tighten a fraction of a turn more. |
