Just as they are coming out with their speaker line, too. Makes very little sense to me. People will never get a chance to hear them, and they have a lot to prove in this area.

Direct-sell speaker makers like SVS, Tekton, Ascend, etc - they can be extremely successful, but basically their core competency has to be greasing the internet hype machine. Get a few well-controlled rave reviews published, groom rabid fanboys, then get the mob to sell + defend your products for you! PS Audio is way up there in terms of ability to hype their stuff, so I think they're confident in their ability to take that to the next level. But certainly, you're not going to be competing in the Magico/Wilson/Von Schweikert/Vandersteen/YG/etc realm of speakers if you go that route - there's a relatively narrow price window for the internet direct stuff, at it's on the cheaper side of 5-figures.

But personally, I say don't skimp on speakers when budgeting. The "really real" top companies are now engineering some absolutely amazing stuff into their mid-tier to upper-tier lines, and your ears deserve to experience that before you fall for internet hype. I wouldn't trade my Tannoy Canterbury GR for any internet speaker on earth, now or ever.

Agree - I would have thought with audio gear at the higher end you need distribution partners to be able to have people demo gear. It’s a strategy that I’ve seen a few adopt in different markets recently with mixed success - only time will tell if what they save by not having distributors will be recouped through direct sales at a higher margin

I suspect that this may be a permanent thing for the electronics side but when the speakers are actually ready for the market that you may see a "regional" dealer model for them much like with Legacy with the prices "fixed" like Vandersteen, Magico and others.

Doesn’t seem like a positive move when a company fires the sales team.

PS Audio has a loyal following of dealers and customers here in Europe.
I do wonder if this is a good move...

I love my DSD and MSP, and think they’re a good value, but this doesn’t make sense to me, particularly with the speaker line coming out.

Default PS Audio terminates all Dealers in the USA

Yes on the surface it’s odd, however, IMO its knowing your numbers and I believe they do.

They just purchased a new building, and installed a recording studio aside from making audio equipment and still employ some great people.

I believe they have a great platform that includes demo and purchase, my bet is they continue a positive journey forward.

For those who mentioned not being able to audition PS Audio equipment at home, they offer a 30 day return with prepaid return shipping for US sales. You do have to pay for the item in order to audition it tho. I'm curious about this "China tarrif" that the Master speaks of???
