Anyone have a Roon Nucleus server? Now that I see how well Roon works, I’d consider the dedicated Server. At $1400, it seems pretty reasonably priced. Sound wise, I would guess that this or any good computer would sound about the same since the music is served and decoded in the Bridge and DAC.

The Roon Server is purpose built, but from understanding you need to install a drive, then comes what type of drive, and of course if you want quiet, use of a linear power supply, now your somewhere around $3000 -

Looks like I can do a Nucleus (not Plus) for $1400 and a 2TB SSD Drive for about $250 and that should give me what I need. What better alternatives are there for under $2000?

Default Small Green Computer

You should look at Small green computer. Built as well or better than Nucleus and cheaper too. Quite a few people have compared the SGC with the Nucleus and went with the SGC. The SGC sonicorbiter i5 is what I have ordered and will relieve my iMac from running the Roon core. The i5 is only $895.00 and consumes 9 watts of power. Connect it to a NAS or add your own HDD/SSD.
