It's great to read the different recommendations for filter settings but you have to realize that it will be system and room dependent for you as it is for all of us. I have played around with the settings and they are subtle but noticeable. I am currently using SDLY 2 with DSD filter off and 2X oversampling. I also have listened with native rate used. I understand your comment about the upsampling on the Esoteric. Yes it does make the treble end smoother. I remember years ago the whole Chesky Records philosophy along with others that have released 24/96 material primarily on DVD. The top end always sounded more analog like with less digital glare to me?

You are right Sharp 1080.I have the luck to listen some ULTRA high end systems in my travels around the world and one thing that i discover is to more expensive the system more smoother the sound.
In all cases this thing happens, so...i don't know man.
I listen rock and progressive metal and the "smooth as silk" sound definitely is not for me.
Maybe i am a renegade audiophile ha ha
