Default Finally, a fully restored Thorens TD160 MKII Super

Finally received a custom fully restored Thorens TD160 Super MKII. This IS different from others on the following:

1. The Original Hinge and cover - both in mint/new condition. Not set on.
2. Although the plinth had been changed (had to as the original one was MDF and need a change) to Caribbean Rosewood (yes, solid wood, not veneer).
3. Motor had been replaced using the latest Origin Live Ultra (230v/240v). As such, the speed selector had been replaced with a metal level gage (for cosmetic purposes), a deviant from the original in these 2 aspects. BUT to up the performance.
4. Arm is the new SME M2-9 which holds a new Ortofon Mono SE cartridge. Yes, this is for playing the mono vinyls I have in my collection.

In fact, this TT will be part of my vintage system set up.

I have seek Dan's help to post the pictures of the exact turntable which was sent to me by the restorer before shipping to me.

Hope you guys likes it. I do ... and now to work on the speakers. What else but vintage JBL's. Hmmm, let me see, L300? Studio 43xx series or even the Paragon? Dream goes on.

Cheers!

I can't wait to see the pictures. I've got a thing for vintage Thorens ... here's a photo of mine (TD125ii with SME 3009ii and custom plinth) while we wait

Congratulations, I am sure you'll love it ... and let's see those photos also when you install it in your system.

Alberto

PS In the past 10 years or so, I've owned several modern turntables (including some lovely Rega and VPI) but I found myself always choosing the Thorens. I sold the rest and this is now my main vinyl spinner --- and it puts a huge smile on my face every time I see it ... and an even bigger one when I play it.

If anyone is interested in a real project, I have motor, bearing, platter and controller for a Thorens 320/520. Any brave souls out there?
