If I added the MP100 would that enhance my setup. I would use one of the other inputs with balanced cables from the MP100. I tried to read the specs but they make very little sense to me. I know that Mc makes the MP1100 tube phono preamp but that is a very expensive unit. I could also be bored and just need a new project to work through.
I asked directly Mcintosh if the MP100 would improve the phono stage of the MA6700 (integrated) and they said NO

It is probably a superb preamp but the MP1100 would integrate better into my all Mc system. And I like having the controls on the front. I also am addicted to blue meters.....!

I know what you mean, once you have an all Mac or primarily Mac setup it's very difficult to not go Mac. That drove my MP100 decision as much as anything.

If you have the space and funds, by all means go for the MP1100...they say it's phenomenal. I'll be interested in your impressions!

I sent several inquiries to McIntosh dealers in my area. None are closer than 75 miles. I got responses from three. Two could order the MP1100 but one had just received a unit and had unpacked it to use as a demo but had not hooked it up. I wend ahead and bought it knowing I would not see one till January if I ordered. They will deliver it to me on Tuesday of next week. Now do I tell the wife....!

I will post my thoughts on the MP1100 after it has had some time to settle in. I moved my MPC500 and will put the MP1100 under the preamp that way I do not need to buy longer phono cables. I have ordered some balanced cables that match my others. Will use some "economy" ones in the interim.
