I believe that was the idea behind XLR/balanced cables to cancel out the electrical interference to begin with? If you can't hear the difference, they are doing what the engineers designed them to do in the first place.

Hundreds of feet of microphone cable to record the music we are listening to on our end... That is a fairly typical scenario recording live music.

I think it is very gear dependent. If the gear is properly designed then the cables don’t matter as much.

I've had lots of gear come through my systems. Can't say I've ever been blown away by any cable, power cord or power conditioner. Sure, there were times I thought I heard a slight difference in presentation but it could have easily been my imagination. Not to mention all the articles I posted before on how our Auditory, Echoic Memory lasts... It is measured in seconds.

I don't use zip cord in my system, all my cables and power cords are not stock but it is because it took me a long time to stop worrying about that aspect of the hobby and I am not going to get rid of all the stuff I accumulated over the years. So I keep using them.
