Default Question about WBT 0610 connector

Does anyone know what is the use of the plastic pin found on WBT 0610 connectors? I cannot see any use for it but I am sure if it's there, there must be a reason.

It's an EU safety requirement, to help prevent kids from plugging these into AC outlets. The plastic pin can be removed.

I just ordered a set of these myself. I already have the WBT spade connectors for my speakers, which have WBT universal connectors (spade, banana, bare-wire) built in. These are for my amp, and I will have to remove the pin.

Thanks for letting me know. If I am not mistaken, in most European countries they have outlets for round pins so I guess it makes sense.

I think I will remove then, otherwise most likely I will knock one off and break it...

Serge.......I got lucky with the terminals on my PMC EB1i speakers. The safety tab fit past the terminal without the need to remove it. These are the WBT solid silver locking banana connectors with pure copper crimp sleeves on the wire. I also use 10 gauge solid silver jumpers.

Dan, glad to hear that it works out well for you too. My speaker cables are attached to the MC252 and to Harbeth Compact 7ES-3 speakers without problem but I believe I will remove these pins anyway; It's too easy to break them and you know, I tend to break things when I am too excited to swap for new gear haha

Super Clean install Dan... your silver jumpers look like mini Buss Bars.

Ivan.......Thank you. The 10 gauge solid pure silver jumbers made a nice improvement in resolution over the factory bronze jumpers.

I know this is a very old thread. But I am curious how to remove the plastic safety pin on the WBT 0610 Banana Plugs without damaging the connector.

Can anyone please advise how to cleanly remove the plastic safety pin on WBT 0610 without having to cut it ?

Hey, this thread is about 9 years old ah! But I am still here
I sold my cables about 4 weeks ago. the plastic pins are molded into the connector itself I believe. Only way to remove it would be to cut it and file it down cleanly.
About 2 years ago, the tech who refurbished my amplifier (45 years experience) told me that these pins were there to prevent sagging on the cables. Maybe the safety concerns were more specific to Germany and Europe as a whole I guess.
