I would say between 100-200 hours.

Hello guys,

I tried to find a C2700-specific 3d but without success, so I post here hope it is the right place. I cannot understand from the owner's manual one aspect of the C2700, in particular the capabilities of the HDMI (ARC) input of the DA2 DAC.

There are some Blue-ray/SACD players (e.g. OPPO 203/205) outputting audio only via HDMI, including the DSD data stream from SACDs.

Have you tried this option or does this input work just connected to a TV throgh ARC connection?

I had in the past a Bryston BDA-3 and SACDs via HDMI sounded pretty well, so I am wondering if this could be done with the C2700 as well.

I am checking this as this could be the only feature that would make me prefer the C2700 over the C70, which I am about to order.

Thank you!

I briefly (didn't go through and exhaust settings) tried the HDMI audio only output from my Oppo 205 to the DA2 with no success. I was told by Chuck @ McIntosh that the HDMI was intended to be used with TV eARC only. Others may have had better success.

My recent experience with a new Marantz AVR and Sony 4K TV seem to confirm that. Even the on screen setup instructions specifically state that. ARC and eArc is simply an audio return channel from TV content.

Not sure why Mc would put that in a 2 channel preamp, but I'm sure they had their reasons.

Would much prefer to see a real tape loop in the C2700. I'm in the extreme minority, I know.

I use the one in my C53 daily. It's connected to my Sony 85" smart TV. The TV is just one more source in the two channel system.

Hi @Freddie, @Doug, thank you. This confirms what I suspected. Indeed this is a pity.

Reading some discussions on my former BDA-3 I understood that the ability to decode the SACD data streams through HDMI involves the payment of royalties, maybe this is the reason... and I guess Mc wants push for its transports leveraging the MCT proprietary connection.

I guess Mc designed it just to allow a simple HT setup using a nearby hi-fi system to enhance the TV sound, benefiting from the volume control of the TV itself... not a feature I am interested in.

Btw, I still find my former OPPO/BDA a great combo, pity a similar setup could not be done with a Mc pre-amp. The only alternative is to have a HDMI de-embedder and use the coaxial input...

I am thinking about trying Cryo treated Gold Lions when I get my C2700. I liked sound of the treated tubes in my amp. Anyone have experience with cyro treated tubes in C2700?

What did you end up using from your Oppo to the 2700?
I have 105D and I am wondering if to even bother connecting it to 2700 and how. Would love to hear some from your experience. Thanks
