Default Any experience with Kimber PK10?

Hi there,

I am looking to replace the power cord for my amplifier (I do have now a XLO Ultra X-10 my friend lended me) and I am curious about the Kimber Power Kord PK10 Ascent. Since all my cables (IC, jumpers, Speakers) are all Kimber Select, I would find natural to stay within the family for my power cord. There is little information online, reviews or in forums which I find a bit odd. Anyone has experience with their power cord?

The PK10 Ascent is agressively priced here in Canada as Kimber sells directly thru Amazon.ca. It can be had for 550$CA (about 410$US) for a six footers. The connectors are Wattgate Evo which seems to be their top of the line. My amplifier is a modified/restored Yamaha CA-1000. I don't want to break the bank for a cable but I would like to find something really good that would match my amplifier. The PK10 Ascent seems to be a good choice especially considering its price.

Thanks,

The closest I've come to experience is a system featuring the Monitor Audio flagship at a recent NY Audio Show. The amps had PK10 Ascents on them. The system sounded wonderful, but since the entire setup was unfamiliar I can't say to what extent that was a result of the power cords.

The PK10 is regarded highly, and known for its low end power in particular. That's what the reviews I've seen have said. I was thinking of getting one for my preamp; still am. Either a PK10 or a Transparent Premium. The Kimber would be more flexible probably, due to its braided construction (I know the 12TC speaker cable I have is more flexible than the Tara Labs RSC it replaced; braided vs. solid core).

I highly recommend the PK10 Ascent cables and the Palladians if you can afford them. I have both in my system with the Palladians on the 2 channel side of my system. The Ascent cables will clean up the presentation with a lower noise floor, tighter and more tuneful bass, with more detailed highs. The Palladians build on the Ascents and take it to another level entirely.

I only have 10 Palladian. Connected to either Bluray player or master clock generator. Do you think that black filter box make it much better than 10 Ascent ? I never tried Ascent before.

When connected to power conditioner my 10 Palladian sounder drier than Purist Dominus Luminist or Stage III Minotaur. But when used it with clock it sounded very good. Also made action movies very punchy when connected to Pioneer LX800 player.
