I own the big brother, MT10. Still using stock cart but have come close to pulling trigger. I believe you can take your MT5 cart as far up the line as your checkbook allows. I know of one MT10 owner who replaced cart with Soundsmith Sussurro and his only regret is he didn’t go for the top shelf Hyperion. I’ve spoken directly with Peter Ledermann and he says no problem mating his carts with Clearaudio tonearms including those on the MT5/MT10, likely the exact same tonearm on both tables. I’ve strongly considered Soundsmith Hyperion, Grado Aeon/Epoch, and Clearaudio Jubilee MC for my MT10 but analysis paralysis has stopped me up to this point. So hard to drop the cash without benefit of hearing! Let us know which direction you go.

I have had Peter Ledermann over my home in Cape Cod multiple times. I have had the pleasure to listen to most all of his high end cartridges.

They are simply amazing, and get substantially better as you go up the line.

Ivan thanks! I want my new cartridge to sound warm and smooth to feed my tube amps….. I want it to be a great tube experience which honestly it already is. So I am not looking for a cartridge that comes off digital or exact but more like the Sonus Faber sound I love. Plus if I move to Wilson it would smooth some of the precision when I want it.

Depending on your price range the Hana ML/MH series plays quite well on my MT5 . I was torn between the Hana and Soundsmith . I already had a Soundsmith entry cartridge on my previous TT so I was familiar with the the brand . In the end the ML was in stock so I grabbed one with no regrets . I may still try a Soundsmith Paula or Voice in the future.
