Default Tube pre-amp for Bryston 4b Cube

What pre-amp do you recommend for Bryston 4b cubed? I know the clear answer is Bryston; but I am looking for a tube pre-amp. Presently I have McIntosh C1100 tube pre-amp and it sounds better with MC452 solid state amp than with Bryston. Then it is well known fact that that Mac gears sound better with Mac gear.

So far I have not been able to hear the full potential of the 4b cube. What I have in mind is Audio Research Ref. 6 tube pre. But I am sure there are others that may match well with my Bryston. Please feel free to share your experience/opinion.

Lots to explore, but the ref6 should be on your list. Hopefully you can do an in home demo.

If you're close to Richmond Hill ... I'd recommend that you take your 4B3 with you and visit Angie at American Sound.
She has the Ref 6 and many other drool-worthy tube pre-amps.
Cheers, JT

The CJ ET-5 would make an excellent partner w/the Bryston 4B cubed. I have the step down the CJ ET3 SE and the Bryston 2.5 SST2. Very happy w/the combo.

I’m using a Mc C1100, the match works very well.
