While I have the old sound card, I can say that you will not regret ordering the BDP-2. I have not played my Sony SCD-XA5400ES since owning it except to play the first few seconds of a CD that I intend to encode on a USB drive for my BDP-2.

Hi James,

FYI, a text message from a customer who just upgraded his BDP-2 with the new audio device…

Hello! Bryston should have called it a BDP3.. it's a step-up.

The difference is immediate. It's more musical n' 3d soundstage . The highs flares up( I didn't notice much highs been rolled off until the sound card been replaced w Bryston one). You must encourage all the existing bdp2 users to listen to it.

Regards,
Low

James,

I just got my BDP-2 today. Hooked it up via usb temporarily into a CEntrace miniDAC. WOW.

Clarity, timbre, decay, touch, bass extension - all the usual audiophile words.

Can’t wait for the BDA-3 to arrive.

Thanks again for a another truly great product.

David

Hi,

I am sure the subject of DSD has been brought up before. Request anyone who can help me figure how to play native DSD files through the BDP-2.
Apologies, if this is a often repeated query and it has been answered before - please if someone can direct me to the relevant thread which answers my query

Thanks

Sujay

Hi Sujay

The BDP-2 will play DSD DOP. If you want Native you need something like FooBar or JRiver on your computer. DOP is a true DSD signal it just uses a PCM carrier.

Many thanks, James.....helpful, as always. Just so that I am clear, this would be via SPDIF or USB?

Default BDP-2 With New Sound Card vs. USB

Can anyone comment on the sound of the BDP-2 with the BDA3 using the new sound card on the BDP-2 vs. USB on the BDA3?
