Default Schiit Modi 2 Uber DAC and Wyrd

Recently bought a Schiit Modi 2 Über DAC for my bedroom/office system for listening to my Schiit Valhalla 2 headphone amp when working at the Retina iMac for my photography. i've been very happy with this pairing; the Sennheiser HD600s are one of the great transducers in the history of audio-dom, IMO.

It occured me to tonight I hadn't listened to this lttle $149 DAC in my main system, so tonight I patched it into the system along with the $99 Schiit Wyrd USB decrapifier in place of my reference Schiit Gungnir DAC.

Fired up the CT-5 and LP70S, and put on some high-res content from the Mac Mini...

Holy Schiit!!!

This pairing sounds REALLY, REALLY good. Notably better than my $1200 Wadia 121 and my non-Uber'd original Bifrost. The Modi2 Über is natural, neutral, clean, fast yet beautifully detailed and musical at the same time. Subtle instrumental shadings and nuances are wonderfully reproduced. Not a hint of stridency or sibilance on the top end, and real weight and body in the bass. The mids are gorgeous; female vocals are astonishingly good. The airy and spacious imaging, "hall ambience", soundstaging is just stupid good. It's all there...I could live with this pairing permanently, no problem at all.

Wow. Just wow. Jason and Mike at Schiit just hit another one outta da park!

If you want to put something together for a second or third (e.g bedroom or office) system, look no further, gang. This little dynamic duo, at $248, will blow your socks off.
