James Tanner.......Wow! That is a major honor, and comes with a lot of great free publicity, which is always a good thing. The BDA-1 is getting rave reviews. Of course, we would not expect anything less from Bryston. Congratulations to you and the Bryston team.

I know my desktop computer with a Bryston BDA-1 and the PMC TB2S-A is a little over the top as a computer monitor system, but I continuously search for new music, often at my desltop computer, and the analog out to cheezy speakers leaves me wanting more, a lot more. A small set of good amplified speakers with a USB enabled DAC would be ideal.

What would be the benifits of using the BDA-1 DAC with the BCD 1 instead of just using the BCD-1 on its own.?

No real benifit other than mutiple hi-res sources can be used with the BDA-1. Up to 192/24

Volks.......Welcome to Audio Aficionado.

These days, having muliple digital inputs to a high quality DAC is essential, in my opinion. With so many outboard audio sources outputing a digital stream, i.e. music servers, laptop and desktop computers, digital audio tape recorders, Internet streaming devices like Sonos, and even some of the newest tuners, it is essential to have a DAC with multiple inputs in order to take advantage of the all the sources available today.

My advice generally is that if you see yourself continuing to use CD's as your main source of listening then an all in one CD player is the best option (because you can usually attain lower jitter numbers with an all in one player).

If you see yourself moving towards multiple digital sources - especially the hi-res ones then the external DAC makes a lot of sense.

Pete.......I hear you. Over the top desktop computer monitor speakers is an understatement, for sure. This would be a classic case of the DAC and speakers costing way more than the computer, although that type of reasoning doesn't stop some people.........Aheeemmm.

Not to side track the Bryston BDA-1 DAC thread, but to answer your question, the PMC TB2S-A dimensions (HxWxD) are 15.7" x 7.8" x 13.7", weight is 24 lbs.

really too large...not that I have a small home office setup (I don't) but desktop real estate is important.
