I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on Reference ones. What should I be looking at or asking questions about cosmetically?

With the Reference Ones you should have no concerns. If I could afford them, I would buy them instead.

Swirls/scratches in the gloss black finish right from the factory

Adhesive visible in the gap between the woofer's surround and the basket

Flaws in the weave of the woofer's cone

I checked my pair again and it's perfect. Probably an early production problem.

That's interesting. I have never seen a pair of TAD's that wasn't perfect looking.


Was this a MKI or a MKII? It would be helpful to know which factory (China or Japan) produced that set. Also I wonder if it's a possible bootleg, meaning sometimes factories produce a product on their own without being official.

My pair is < a month old ordered from a TAD authorized dealer in US.
