I ordered a B135 amp 4 weeks ago. I live less than 90 minutes from Peterborough. The sales guy said 2 weeks. I just smiled - he's a bit naive, I guess. "Good things come to those that wait".

But at some point long waits equal lost sales. Im thinking of cancelling my order. Another dealer is tempting me with a Boulder pre with the built in DAC and since I dont have the BDA2 in hand the decision will be easier once I go audition it tomorrow. Sorry, but long waits are not good for customers no matter how you rationalize it.

Reminds me of the construction trades as there are lots of eye ball it contractors.
To get a contractor with superior work ethics ect,you usually have to get in line.
Well worth the wait as far as I'm concerned.
Seen a few rush jobs and the whole thing had to come down as the foundation was no good.
Relates quite well to audio.
I also ordered a BDA-2 in black,19"rackmount with blu led's.
if its 3-5wks so be it as Bryston's reputation is as solid as a high demand contractor.

But sometimes when manufacturers get behind they start rushing to catch up, and quality slips. If my BDA2 does not live up to the review in the absolute sound in improvement over my BDA1 then it is going back.

If I have to wait a month for a product that has very little DOA's it's worth it. So here's my questions:

1. How long do orders typically run for everyone here -- not just BDA-2's?
2. What's your experience on Bryston reliability? I've experienced it twice with another manufacturer (you know who you are!! ). A little guidance on this one: please don't get negative here -- "just the facts maam".
I have had a pair of 7BSST amps for 6+ years without any problem at all. They make a great product.

I've actually read of people sending their BDA-2 back and getting the BDA-1 instead. It's happened on a different forum than this one. The two people who've done it said they thought the BDA-2 was too laid back.

Personally, having never heard the BDA-1 that wouldn't be the reason for me. Life is only so long and there are plenty of quality audio pieces out there that are available right this moment. There's really no need to wait over 6 weeks (now) for a piece of gear unless you're that die-hard of a customer.

Sounds like you got a bad contractor. Terribly sorry for your luck, but I would hardly consider Boulder as inferior or unethical. In fact they're a highly respected high-end manufacturer. Oh and guess what, they don't have 6 week (or longer) wait times.

This happens every time Bryston comes out with a new piece of gear. They were slammed when they announced the BHA-1. I was happy to wait and I now have a great headphone amp. Bryston makes great gear!
