Default Schiit "Statement DAC", any news yet?

I´m using the Bifrost now for a few months and I´m loving it to bits.
In fact I´m loving it so much that I´m already thinking of upgrading to the Gungnir and connect my EMC-1 to it and use that as CD-drive. The on-board DAC of the EMC-1 is 24-bit/96kHz (so not the "Up" version). Unfortunately the Gungnir doesn´t have a AES/EBU input.

There also is a little voice inside me telling me to hold out for their Statement DAC, so I was wondering if there is anything known around here regarding this next Schiit product?

What to do now: Go for Gungnir or wait for Statement DAC?

Last I read from Schiit is that the "statement DAC" won't be out before mid-year. The Gungnir is a step up from the Bifrost according to Schiit, and most likely that improvement is found in using the balanced outputs, as it is a fully balanced design. Schiit also indicated the statement DAC will be at least double the price of the Gungnir, putting in the thick of things in the DAC market. I hope this info is helpful to you.

Exactly, and I would be surprised it it's as early as mid-year. Might be a bit later. The Wadia 121 was an extreme example, I think it shipped over three years after it was announced at CES.

Wait two months, and then decide. You might find you're perfectly happy where you're at at that time.

Sounds like a good advice, thanks.

Or you can order a Gungnir and return it if you don't feel it's a big enough step up.
