Absolutely does take time and effort Dan. Thanks in advance for investing the time and effort to share your findings with the rest of us.

This particular review will be very interesting as it is not just another DAC but here you are comparing two different topologies and schools of thought, an R2R Ladder DAC vs the Delta-Sigma topology found in most other DACS out there. Schiit Yggdrasil has its work cut out to prove itself against the majority out there. (Of course having been enjoying Yggy's little bro' Gumby in my own system and comparing to Delta-Sigma along the way, I have a very good idea where things stand.) Will be interesting to read and compare your findings to my own.

According to the linked article:

Yggdrasil Analog 2 has been shipping since late October, so many Yggdrasil owners have been enjoying it for some time. And, keeping Schiit’s promise of upgradability, all older Yggdrasils can be upgraded to Yggdrasil Analog 2.

Yggdrasil with Analog 2 is available now for $2399

Yggdrasil Analog 2 upgrades are available now for $550

Dan,

Looks like you timed it right, and have the upgraded analog section already.

US Blues.......Yes, I am one of the fortunate ones that received the Analog 2 upgrade, and best of all it came without the $100.00 price increase that Yggdrasil is now priced on the Schiit Audio website.

Yggdrasils with Analog 2 boards are designated with a serial number prefix of “B,” rather than “A.” My Yggdrasil has the serial number prefix "B".

I am listening to the Yggdrasil this morning. What a wonderful DAC.

The original Yggdrasil DAC has been around a few years. The modular design of the Yggdrasil allows Schiit Audio to develop advances in circuit design and performance into existing products. In my mind this delivers excellent value for customers who own an older Yggdrasil. A great many manufacturers continue product development, sometimes only adding minor improvements, but rather than make the performance advances available as an upgrade theysimply introduce the next model. If one wants the latest upgraded performance, the old component has to be replaced. That is a considerably more expensive upgrade path. Schiit Audio's modular upgrade path allows owners to remain current at a much more reasonable expense. The Yggdrasil has had two USB input module upgrades, now at Gen 5, and now the Analog 2 upgrade for the modular analog output boards. The Analog 2 upgrade cost is $550.00. That is considerably less expensive than purchasing a new Yggdrasil with the Analog 2 upgrade at $2399.00. I like the modular aspect for future improvements. The ability to remain current with an existing component design for a reasonable fee makes good sense to me.
