I had the BOT-1 and experienced similar issues, but didn't want to buy a separate burner. Sold the BDP-2 and BOT-1 and bought a Silenzio which provides both server and ripper capabilities in the same box and haven't looked back. Loved the BRyston stuff, but this worked better for me.

YMMV.

Most folks don't need to buy a new burner or device! If you have a computer, you already have a burner!
There is NOT an all-in-one unit that can rip as well and have the flexibility to make changes as a computer with the right software!

I would be happy if this was user error on my part so I could fix it but given all I do is but the CD (many new) into the BOT, check the meta data and adjust if needed, and hit backup I can't imagine what I am doing wrong.

Bryston support is great but I have send the BDP-2 and BOT back once already and have had multiple calls.

Rolling Stones Let it Bleed only 3 tracks
Rolling Stones Beggers Banquet only 3 tracks
Emiliana Torrini Fishermans wife only 2 tracks
Zombies Greatest only 3 tracks
Timelife Treasury Sporadic tracks
Springsteen Boston 4 cd Put in a sub folder titled 9
Pink Floyd The Wall (Hey You) Under DS 7 460368 CD 2
Emerson Paris Art Crimes Missing tracks
Emmylou Harris Wrecking Ball Only 2 track
George Harrison All Things Must Pass Only 5 tracks
John Denver Christmas together only tracks 5-11
Johnny Cash American Recordings only track 1
Ok sorry you are having issues but I am wondering what software version you wee using as we have made many improvements in the recent months regarding the ripping function.

Give DBPoweramp a try. They have a free try out period. Once you see the ease to rip and versatility for metadata you will never go back to a one box solution. I love Bryston products (I own an SP3), but the reality is that for consistent ripping your best bet is to use a true and tried dedicated software. My motto when it comes to ripping is: Rip it once, do it right, and forget it.

I use JRiver on my MacBook to rip CDs. I've never had an issue with it. I own pretty much a full suite of Bryston products, but the BOT never seemed to grab my attention. It's easy enough to rip on my computer and drop the files onto my NAS.
